Introduction

Janice Yip is a violinist and Suzuki teacher dedicated to inspiring students and fostering community through music. She has performed as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral violinist across the United States, Europe, and Hong Kong.

Janice earned her Master of Music in Violin Performance from the Longy School of Music of Bard College, studying with Mark Lakirovich on the Presidential Scholarship and the Roman and Melanie Totenberg Scholarship, awarded to the most accomplished students. She also studied with renowned pedagogues Boris Kuschnir, Yair Kless, and Mimi Zweig, and has collaborated with artists such as Midori Goto and Benjamin Hochman.

As an orchestral musician, Janice has performed with the London Chamber Orchestra and Tapiola Sinfonietta, and held leadership roles as concertmaster of the Quincy Symphony Orchestra and principal second violin of Symphony Pro Musica. She has attended prestigious festivals like the Atlantic Music Festival, Eastern Music Festival, and Cremona International Music Academy on full scholarships and residential fellowship, often serving as principal second violin in their orchestras.

A devoted teacher, Janice embraces the Suzuki philosophy of teaching with love. She believes that every individual has a natural connection to music and that teachers act as guides, helping students develop listening skills, violin techniques, and a deep appreciation for music. By fostering a nurturing environment and implementing effective teaching methods, Janice strives to empower every student to discover their musical potential. Through music, Janice celebrates individuality and promotes unity, using music as a way to connect and inspire.
