Instrumental Program Studio Policies

FALL/WINTER ENROLMENT

Seed students engage in a comprehensive program consisting of 17 private lessons, 9 group lessons, orchestral rehearsal (strings only), and 1 semester-end recital.

ATTENDANCE

We ask that all classes be accompanied by a Suzuki parenting adult (a parent figure who can attend lessons and practice with the student at home).

Trial Class

  • Trial class invoices must be settled no less than 48 hours before the scheduled class time. Failure to settle within this timeframe will result in the cancellation of the scheduled class(es).
  • A 24-hour advance notice is required for cancellation/rescheduling of a purchased trial class. Classes cancelled less than 24 hours in advance will be charged in full.
  • A trial session can only be rescheduled ONCE.

PRIVATE CLASS MAKEUP — SCHOOL CLOSURE OR TEACHER ABSENCE

Missed private classes will be made up under the following circumstances:

  • Typhoon 8 signal. If Signal is canceled before noon, all classes will resume after 2 hours. If signal is on after 12noon, all classes will be taught online for the entire day, except for early childhood lessons, and some piano  lessons. (classes will run as scheduled for T1 and T3)
  • Black rainstorm signal. If signal is canceled before noon, all classes will resume after 2 hours. If signal is on after 12noon, all classes will be taught online for the day, except for early childhood lessons, and some piano lessons. (classes will run as scheduled for Amber and Red Rain)
  • Teacher’s absence
  • Teacher’s outside performance: at least one month advance notice will be provided.
  • Teacher’s sickness: our administrator will inform parents as soon as possible.
  • All makeup lessons must be completed within the term. Credits cannot be transferred to the next semester.

PRIVATE CLASS MAKEUP — STUDENT ABSENCE

  • No Makeup Class will be offered for a missed private class due to the full capacity of our teacher's schedule.
  • Students who are sick at home or out of town may elect to have their class conducted online.
  • Students may choose to swap their lesson times with their peers. Please inform us if you swap.
  • Sickness with a doctor's note: Lessons will be made up.
  • All makeup lessons must be completed within the term.
  • Credits cannot be transferred to the next semester.
  • No show without written notice is considered a forfeited lesson, no makeup class will be offered.

GROUP CLASS

  • No makeup class will be offered for a missed group class. Due to the social nature of this class and the challenge in coordinating multiple families' schedules, the group experience cannot feasibly be recreated.
  • Group classes may not be swapped for a class that meets at a different time.

TEACHER MAKEUP SLOTS

  • Each teacher will have designated makeup time slots for each term. For each qualifying makeup class, you will be sent a link to reserve a time slot.

STUDENT TRAVEL PLANS

  • If you let us know your travel dates before settling your invoice, we can factor in your child's absences when creating their schedule for the term.

Payment Terms

Invoices include the program tuition, supplies required for classes as determined by our faculty, and an administrative/recital fee of $1,050 per semester, which is used for recital hall rental, accompanist fees, facilities and piano maintenance, and administrative services.

After full payment has been received, all fees are strictly non-refundable, non-transferrable, and non-exchangeable.
